2025 Ohio Odonata Society Annual Meeting
28 June 2025
Cedar Bog Nature Preserve
980 Woodburn Road, Urbana, Ohio
The Ohio Odonata Society’s 2025 annual meeting will be held at the Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, in Champaign County. One of the "spring valley" counties, it is characterized by many springs, seeps, bogs and fens created by glacial activity. Cedar Bog is the largest and best calcareous fen in Ohio, making it home to many unique insect and plant species. Arguably the premiere natural history area in Ohio, this special location provides a facility for our morning sessions, and is centrally located to a number of other sites also providing great oda watching.

Afternoon Field Trips
After the indoor sessions, attendees will have a choice of field trips, led by one or more experts knowledgeable in Odonata identification. Odonates are best discovered and photographed by getting in/near the water, so aquatic sandals or boots are highly recommended. We are planning a choice of 6 different locations:
Cedar Bog Nature Preserve
Pointe North Conservation Area
Prairie Road Fen State Nature Preserve + C.J. Brown Dam & Reservoir
Michael’s Lakes
First Christian Church + Old Reid Park
Kiser Lake Wetlands State Nature Preserve + Kiser Lake
If you would like to participate in one of the organized afternoon trips, please review the site descriptions on the downloadable Conference Outline. You may also wish to download an Odonata Checklist for Champaign County .
Registration
We are asking for a small fee to cover incidental costs and to provide a donation to Cedar Bog, which has graciously offered to host us this year. Space at some field trip sites is limited, so when you register, you will be asked to specify your first and second preferences for field trip sites. If you want to go on a field trip, please be prepared to specify which one. (see the Conference Outline for descriptions).
The registration page also offers you the optional ability to pay your annual OOS membership dues, which help us maintain our web site.
