Emeralds

All Corduliidae are fliers, making them difficult to photograph and identify. Several species breed in very specific bog or fen habitats, which not only limits their presence in Ohio, but further complicates finding and identifying them.

Photo ID tips for Emeralds. The chances of a successful ID are improved with a back and side shot. Having a close up side shot of terminal appendages is also helpful.
